Accounts Clerk

The Town of Deep River is currently seeking a candidate to fill the position of Accounts Clerk in the Finance Department. Reporting to the Treasurer, the position of Accounts Clerk performs accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and clerical support services, including customer service.

Qualifications required include Ontario Grade 12 Diploma plus one year of post-secondary education or training in accounting/bookkeeping, as well as administration, computer applications, records management or other related disciplines or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional related training is considered an asset. Must have strong interpersonal skills for dealing with public inquiries, excellent personal and work organization skills and superior communication abilities. Must demonstrate strong mathematical and language skills. Demonstrated familiarity and competence in the operation of networked personal computer, including operating systems and office productivity and accounting applications. Demonstrated familiarity with modem office equipment, knowledge of the public sector, and in particular the municipal government environment.

Compensation for this position will be in accordance with the CUPE 740 Collective agreement with the potential for comprehensive benefits in accordance with the Collective Agreement. This is a union position represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 740.
