Please ensure garbage is at the curb by 7:00 AM on your scheduled collection day.

Residential Bag Limit

As of May 1, 2017, the Town of Deep River introduced a two (2) bag limit for residential household waste collection. Businesses are exempt from these bag limits. The purpose of this bag limit is to encourage all residents to recycle. Increased diversion of waste will increase the life of local landfills and reduce waste management costs for residents.

Definition of Two (2) Bags

Two bags are defined as two individual garbage bags or two waste containers that hold a maximum combined volume of 154 litres of household waste. (A standard garbage bag    measuring 26”x32” equals 77 litres.)

What if I have more than “two bags”?

You can purchase bag tags and attach them to all bags in excess of the two (2) bag limit. Bag tags can be purchased Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at Town Hall for $2.50 per bag tag. Revenues from the sale of bag tags will be allocated to the future  closing costs of the Baggs Road Landfill Site.

Can I take extra bags to the Baggs Road Landfill Site?

Yes. However, all residents of Deep River will be required to pay $2.00 per bag or the bag must have a bag tag attached to it to dispose of waste at the Bagg’s Landfill Site.

What should I do if I have questions?

Staff will work closely with the collection contractor to facilitate a smooth transition to ensure compliance with the bag limits. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Public Works Department at (613) 584-2000.
